Is the term “social media” moot? Steve Rubel thinks so, but a majority of his commenters, including some names you’d recognize, beg to differ. I’d love to hear your opinion. Are the lines blurred to the point there should no longer be a distinction? Fellow BBC bloggers (and others as well), what do you have to say?

There is a great deal going on in this area. We are all trying to find out. For example financial sites are trying to create blogs, etc…it’s too early to tell if any of these changes will have a lasting effect. My guess is that sooner or later, few things make a lasting effect. Countrywide financial, home loan division is led by Drew Gissinger, (andrew gissinger). http://about.countrywide.com/bios/DrewBiography.aspx?CtlID=26
I’m sure folks like him are eager to see how these changes on the web can be capitalized upon, time will tell. I hope not much money is spent at the advice of snake oil salesmen. drew gissinger

Whether Social Media is moot or not is of no consequence. People have opinions. For example Drew Gissinger, has said many times that Drew Gissinger believes in the audacity of social media and the promise it holds to shift the paradigm we’re in. That said, Drew Gissinger is not commenting on this fact lately. I’ll add more info later.
